2017 Ford GT Hits 210 MPH!
On December 1st, Johnny Bohmer had a small group of vehicles testing at JBPG; ranging from the Bugatti Chiron and McLaren P1, to the new, Ford GT, Lamborghini Huracan and Lamborghini Aventador SV. The weather conditions that day were favorable with temperatures in the low 80 degrees F. and a slight breeze coming from the south. Of the vehicles testing, one we were anxious to see was a 2017 Ford GT. With a 3.5 liter, twin turbo, V6 engine and a reported top speed of 216 MPH, we were eager to see how this vehicle would perform.
Professional driver, David Coutu in his 2017 Ford GT lined up for a 2.7 Mile pass and reached an impressive top speed of 210.486 MPH! Almost equally remarkable was the vehicle’s braking ability as the car quickly and safely slowed down to 18 MPH after passing through the trap.
One of the main functions of the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds is to safely determine all aspects of a vehicle’s performance capabilities while determining the accuracy of the manufacturer’s claims.
At the end of the testing day, we saw some incredible vehicles achieve impressive speeds and the 2017 Ford GT surly did not disappoint. Last but not least, please subscribe to the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds YouTube channel as we continue to perform more testing with some of your favorite vehicles.
Bugatti tests the Chiron at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds with the help of Astronaut Jon McBride
The Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds was happy host both Bugatti and Jon McBride as they tested the Chiron. Below is a statement from Bugatti posted to their Instagram page.

"NASA astronaut Jon A. McBride tested the Chiron on the very same runway where he landed a space shuttle at the Kennedy space center in Florida. His conclusion: “I think compared to what I’ve flown the Chiron is probably as good or out-performs them. I mean I’ve felt some good acceleration in my life, but I don’t think anything better than what I experienced today.”"
